SPEED PROBLEM WITH 1977 VESPA 50R IMPORTED FROM SWEDEN

Hello,

I have problem with my Vespa what is imported from Sweden to Finland. This Vespa belongs to moped II-class and I have changed a new cylinder and crankshaft.
Still it runs only 30 km/h. It is restricted by transmission/gearing.

Does anyone know what I have to change to speed up my device?

Hi !

According to the hints about "trim" over at emscooters suggests that You should change crankshaft and the primary to 18/67 as first step.

Second step is a bigger carburetor (16/16) bigger cylinder and 10" wheels

I had troubles with my Vespa 50 R aswell and i solved it by buying a new exhaust.

Maybe I have to change clutch too, and think what is right primary ratio because I have 75 cc inside
Any good advice what would be the right primary ratio?

Hi again!

Really think you need to open it up again, If you've changed the crankshaft you've find that it's pretty easy. Use the guides at scooterhelp.com

With that 75cc you definatelly sholuld change the primary transmission to at least 18/67. You need a 16/16 carb and a 4 disc clutch with a reinforced spring. While you're at it change the exhaust to a sportier one. I ordered The 125cc oem from Scooter-center.com, the price was 487 SEK..

should I order new clutch or only new discs? Do you know specs for this clutch what is inside? I´m ordering items from SIP and I don´t know what is the thickness of discs?

Hi There!

If You order just spring and discs its going to be much cheaper, you have to make/buy a special tool tho! Last time i ordered a complete clutch with 4 discs. Yesterday i noticed i suddenly need a clutch cover spacer - It´s been running perfect for 4 years before!? Really strange...

Do you know what should be thickness in cork plates and in discs. There is some variations in SIP webstore and I really don´t know what packet is right to my 50R.
