What carburetor

Post by squidge »

Hi there

I need to replace a carburetor on my V50 but I need a little advice on what one to get.

I have been looking at SIP and at the Carburetor DELL'ORTO, SHB 16/10 which I am told is the normal one for this bike. I have also been told that there is a 16/16 which is a little better.

But then on the SIP site it says that I can mount an SHB 19 to pep it up a little, is this referring to a 19/19 carb? If so can someone tell me the difference and does it fit straight on there or do I need to use any different parts.

Thanks

there is three diffrent mainfolds for 16/10,16/16,19/19. so you need more than just a carb. (mainfold, mainfold clamp, carb, airbox)

Am I right in assuming that if the carb on there at the moment is a 16/10 then all I need to buy is the new carb, but if I want to change the carb then as you say, I will need to buy the other stuff as well?

yes, and if you want a little more performance in the future, don´t buy a 16/10, 16/16 is a better alternative but you need a new mainfold and clamp (not too expensive). airbox from 16/10 can be used on 16/16 if you have it.

Thats great news. I will go for the 16/16 then. WIll save me buying 2 in a short period of time.

I was looking at the Polini 19/19 but I take it thats a bit of a pro job to do as a few more things need to be changed. I only need the scoot for nipping around town but its nice to have a little more poke.
