It wont start

Post by squidge »

Hi there,

I am a total novice when it comes to renovating scooters, which is why I have chose to start with a little V50.

I am looking at one tomorrow and I am told that the carburetor needs replacing. Is there any way of testing to see if it in indeed this or something else. Is there a way of starting it without the carb. Oh, and the kickstart needs replacing as it has snapped off ;)

Any help

Cheers

yes, you can start it for some seconds with start gas or just put some fuel in the carb mainfold. this is not to recommend, but it works

yeah, remember to be fast on the engine kill switch (or blocking the inlet of the manifold) as the engine could rev dangerously high with this method.
Howether it's great fun to try to start it with fuel in the manifold and a must do for the curious maniac...

SOunds a bit tricky for a novice such as myself.

I will probably end up blowing up the whole scooter, then the rebuild might take a little longer than anticipated.
